Robert Calvin Bowling


Memorial Service:  10:00 am, June 14, 2021 at the First Baptist Church of Lakeside. Creighton Morris will officiate.


In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Program in honor of Bob Bowling.


Robert Calvin Bowling, “Buffalo Bob”, a retired Senior Staff Operations Engineer and a longtime resident of Azle, TX, died after a battle with cancer at the age of 66 at Baylor All Saints hospital in Fort Worth on June 8, 2021.


Robert was born in Purcell, OK on January 25, 1955 to William Robert and Betty Jean Bowling. He graduated from Cotton Valley High School in Louisiana in 1973. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served as a gunner on a B-52 bomber flying missions over Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. On January 20, 1986 he welcomed his only child and son, Shaddy William. Robert married the love of his life, Traci, on July 22, 2000. Over the course of nearly 21 years of marriage they would go on to share many adventures together and travel the world.


Robert was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed the outdoors, traveling, family and his dogs Bella and Gigi.  He was well known in the aviation community as a skilled technician and problem solver who spent over 40 years on the F-16 program working with Lockheed Martin. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and the many lives he touched.


Robert is preceded in death by his parents, William and Betty Bowling. He is survived by his wife, Traci; his son, Shaddy; his grandsons, Hunter, Anthony and Jackson; his granddaughters, Madison and Persephone; and sister Patsy Whitlow.
